After having worked in the television and film industry for over a decade, I've decided to escape the madness and relaunch myself into the creative world of graphic design. This blog documents snippets of inspiration gathered, projects I'm working on, and miscellaneous musings. It's more of a creativity-inducing personal scrapbook than anything else, but I encourage you to peruse it's pages, and add insight and share interesting tidbits whenever possible, because they are very welcome.

DOLBYMAN

I am a huge fan of old school hip hop - especially beatboxing - so when someone puts out a video showcasing their skills, I'm happy to give it a go. When I saw this video by UK's notorious Beardyman (in DOLBY no less!), I was floored. I love the colours, the edits, the flow of visuals through different themes - it's just super funky. Check it out!

Nature-Inspired Home Decor

After my brief foray in the woods, I got to thinking - what could inspire more than the nature that surrounds us? Sometimes, I wish I could bring the wilderness indoors. Wallow in the willows in the bathroom, perch on a branch in the kitchen, curl up in a bird's nest. Wouldn't it be amazing to live in a completely ecological atmosphere, full of organic colours and textures?

It's About Time

Ever since I was a little kid, my grandmother would give me a new watch every year on my birthday. She had grown up with watchmakers in the family, and the factory was just next door. Knowing everything about watches, she had always found the perfect one to suit me. The ones I loved the most were imaginative and modern, with really cutting-edge designs.

My grandmother passed away several years ago, so I don't receive watches anymore, but treasure the ones that I still keep. Recently, I was searching for ideas on watch designs and found these mind-blowing images. It's amazing to see how far we've come with being able to keep track of time. From a simple stick in the ground, the sundial, a box of gears and pendulums, to the digital watch and beyond, these important objects of time measurement can take on almost any form that the imagination can come up with.

Kate's Little Doodles

Kate is a really cool UK illustrator working out of London whose doodles and whimsical designs give off a truly nostalgic, vintage feel. Her "Little Birds" remind me of French children's book illustrations, full of chubby, adorable little birdies, splashed with vibrant colours.

Kate also designs a lot of beautiful things in fashion, from clothing to accessories, and even jewellery. Her designs are as organic and comfortable looking as they are imaginative and timeless.

Check out her 'Little Doodles' blog and her portfolio

The Future of Camping

I'm headed off to the woods for some much deserved rest and relaxation, and as I was thinking about packing everything up for a camping trip, it got me wondering - what crazy designs there must be in the world of tents. After a little searching, I found some of these amazing designs.

See you in a few days!
